Last Wednesday, we were privileged to have Brian Hassett the CEO of the Capital Region United Way visit our club.  Mr. Hassett said that the United Way believes that together they can accomplish far more than any individual or single organization alone. He calls it “living united.” Brian stressed that today more than ever, when the challenges we face can seem overwhelming, it is important to recognize that good things happen when we focus our collective energy on the issues that matter most.

Our futures are linked as individuals, families, businesses and communities across the Capital Region. That means when one person succeeds, we all benefit. United Way is committed to changing lives and local conditions by focusing on the building blocks for a good quality of life. Research and experience shows that these are: a quality education, a stable income, good health, and the ability to meet one’s basic needs.   Mr. Hassett pointed to the Boys and Girls clubs as one of the great programs the United Way supports.  He spoke about their initiatives to become more in touch with and get greater support from the business and citizens of Saratoga County. The vision of the United Way is to be a leader in bringing people and resources together to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in the local quality of life.
