International Services Committee Update

The following actions were taken by the membership on recommendation of the Club’s Foundation and International Services Committee. 

A donation of $700 will be made to The Rotary Foundation to support the activities in the Horn of Africa.  John Nelson started a special fund: Rotary Horn of Africa Famine and Refugee Relief Fund #G10008 .  He reported a special committee of Rotarians from Africa will have the responsibility for granting and monitoring funds distributed for needed services.

A donation of $300 will be made to Karen Flewelling, a retired Saratogian teacher working in conjunction with Habitat for Humanities.  The funds will help support construction of cisterns in the Vareza Grande District of Brazil. (Read the Saratogian for November 26, 2010 about her work)
