SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club recently inducted The Adirondack Trust Co. as its first corporate member. Corporate membership is a new concept for Rotary and the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club is one of only a few clubs nationally to be accepted into this pilot program of Rotary International. The corporate membership allows up to four participants from a business or organization to share the responsibility of attending the club’s weekly meetings, providing greater flexibility to people who travel or whose schedules change frequently.
The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club has more than 80 individual members who put “service Above Self.” The club is a civic organization dedicated to helping programs in the local community and internationally through volunteerism and raising needed funds.

The Adirondack Trust Co. has been chosen as the first corporate member because of its long history of supporting Saratoga Springs Rotary Club activities, as well as its many other contributions to the community. Four Adirondack Trust employees will participate in the Club through the corporate membership: William Bergan, Andrew Ferrara, Michael O’Connell, and Charles V. Wait Jr. The Adirondack Trust Co. has two additional Saratoga Rotary members — Edward M. Lenz is an individual member and Charles V. Wait is an honorary member.

Charles V. Wait Jr. noted, “We are honored to be the first corporate member of the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club. The Club’s commitment and dedication to serving the Saratoga Springs area with programs and services has been a hallmark of their members’ focus since its inception.”

“We hope to seek out and welcome new corporate members to our Club,” said Don McPherson, Chairman of Saratoga Rotary’s Membership Committee.

The members of the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club meet every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at Longfellows Restaurant for fellowship, lunch, and an informational program.

Community residents and businesses interested in membership are invited to attend. The weekly gatherings are the launching point for the Club's community and international service activities. Each year, the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club raises funds for its charitable and educational programs through the annual Home and Garden Show, held in late winter at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Anyone seeking further information about the Club can contact Club President Jim Doern at 581-8441.
