The Saratoga Springs Rotary Education Foundation will honor Marcia White and Alphonse Lambert at its 12th annual scholarship fundraiser brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

The brunch is one of the major fundraisers for scholarships awarded to local college-bound high school seniors.

White has been the president and CEO of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center since 2005. Under her leadership, major gift-giving to SPAC increased and management and operations became more transparent.

Lambert has been head coach of the Saratoga Central Catholic High School baseball team since 1988. He was recipient of “Coach of the Year” from the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2010. His win record exceeds 400 games.

For more than two decades, the Saratoga Springs Rotary Education Foundation has provided nearly $500,000 in college scholarships to 264 qualified seniors attending Saratoga Springs High School, Saratoga Central Catholic High School or the Waldorf School.

Applications for this year’s scholarships may be obtained at www.saratogaspringsscholarship.org or at the schools’ guidance offices.

Most of the scholarships have no restrictions as to a major course of study. Four with restrictions are: the Gerow-McLuckie Scholarship in arts, architecture or graphic arts; the Stephen and Yvonne Sullivan Scholarship in hospitality, hotel management or culinary arts; the George Hyde Pierce Memorial Scholarship in theater arts, music or dance; and the Edwin Augustine Scholarship in athletics and academics.

Major funding for the scholarships is provided by eight endowed scholarships, part of the proceeds from the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club’s Home and Garden Show and the annual brunch.

This year’s brunch will feature a silent auction with many items, including boxing gloves signed by Joe Frazier; a baseball signed by San Diego Padres pitcher Tim Stauffer, a Saratoga Central Catholic graduate; and items from the New York Giants football team.

The brunch will be donated by Longfellows.
