Our Installation Dinner at Saratoga National Golf Club was an outstanding success.  The evening featured three major gift donations of $20,000 each to Saratoga Hospital for its Community Health Resource Center, to Saratoga P.L.A.N. for enhancement of the the 43 acre Rowland Creek Preserve on Grand Avenue, and to the Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public Library for the children’s area of the Library.

A Rotary Lifetime Achievement Award was given by President Jim Doern to Ed Lenz for his many years of distinguished service to the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club.  In addition, Rotarian of the Year Awards were given to Heather Kissleback and Bob Jackson, and the Young Rotarian of the Year Award was given to Dan Henderson for his terrific support of the Club during this past year.

President Jim Doern thanked Club members for their many efforts in making his year a tremendous success.  Newly minted President Matt Dorsey thanked Jim for his support during the past year, and pledged to “hit the ground running” with Jim’s help.

Matt also noted that he was especially proud to be a third generation Saratoga Springs Rotary Club President, after his father Francis E. Dorsey, Jr., who served as President in the 1960s and his late grandfather Francis E. Dorsey, Sr., who served as President in the 1940s.

Club’s First Organizational Meeting Held

The Club held its first Organizational Meeting on June 23, 2012, consistent with the provisions of our recently passed Strategic Plan.  The Meeting was held at the Longfellows Conference Center and we had a full house.  Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to be there.

The group was treated to an in depth discussion of Club finances by George Walker and Jeff Many.  There was a vigorous question and answer period and everyone left with a better understanding our financial standing.  Thank you to George and Jeff for their informative presentation.  After reports from Committee Chairs and Officers, there was a lively discussion about changes we could make in the Club to better improve our operations and membership participation.    A set of recommendations was approved for forwarding to the Club Membership at our next business meeting on July 25, 2012.
