Saratoga Springs Mayor and Rotary Member Scott Johnson was our speaker last Wednesday.  He started by talking about the progress of the parking garage being built on Woodlawn avenue. The structure is being assembled piece by piece and will be completed by racing season. He reported it will be done on time and on budget.  The mayor included that the new structure would effectively triple the current amount of parking available in that particular lot. The Woodlawn Avenue lot currently has a capacity of 147 spaces.  The new structure will accommodate approximately 450 spaces.  Johnson also noted that this was the first public and private partnership formed to address the parking needs of the city. Mayor Johnson also updated the group on the Saratoga Law Waterfront part initiative.  In 2006 the Waterfront Park Committee met to consider the four-acre City parcel off Cresent Avenue of Saratoga Lake known as Waterfront Park and to make recommendations for its public use and development.  The Committee recommendations for the site development were presented publicly to the City Council and to the residents of Saratoga Springs on Dec 5, 2006.  The Mayor announced at the our meeting that early in the summer season 2012 he hopes that some upgrades will be done to the park to allow non motorized launching and access to the waterfront park.  The park will be the only true public access to Saratoga Lake.
