Last August, the Wesley Community unveiled a new community fruit and vegetable garden available for public use by city residents.

The Saratoga Springs Community garden was conceptualized by long-time Saratoga resident Susan Bokan.  As a fan of locally grown, wholesome foods, she decided to start a public community garden that would be readily accessible to gardeners in the city.

Located behind the Embury Apartments, the Saratoga Springs Community Garden contains more than 50 planting beds, including five that are wheelchair accessible, for joint use by Saratoga Springs and Wesley residents throughout the growing season.  Last year, more than 40 city residents tended beds at the garden.

Developed in partnership with the community and local businesses, with initial funding from the Saratoga Foundation, The Wesley Community supplied the land for the garden. City residents and local businesses provided time, expertise and materials to the project.  Susan will be joining us today to tell us what is new in the Garden for the 2013 season.
