On April 11, Maria Trabka, the Executive Director of the  Saratoga Plan spoke at Rotary.  Saratoga Plan is a land trust. As a land trust, they protect land in the Saratoga region through purchases and donations of land and conservation easements, to protect important natural resources and open spaces. They have protected over 3,387 acres of farmland, forest, natural habitat, trail corridors, historic places, and water resources in the Saratoga region and have over 1,000 acres of projects now in the work. Maria spoke about how Saratoga PLAN helps protect the exceptional quality of life in our region conserving open spaces and special places for present and future generations. Saratoga P.L.A.N. helps communities make long-term decisions to sustain the Saratoga Region as a great place to live, work, visit, and farm. Maria spoke about how currently they are trying to acquire rights and develop a sheep farm along the Hudson River.  She also touted some of their upcoming events such as a Bird Walk at Bog Meadow trail on April 22, 2012.
