Honoring Bob Reed Through Service

The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club was honored to be part of the Bob Reed Memorial Golf Tournament this past year, celebrating the life and legacy of a former Rotarian whose commitment to young people and community service touched countless lives.

Bob Reed was more than a former CFL and NFL fullback. After his playing career that included teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, he dedicated himself to helping young people from all backgrounds, serving as a mentor and working with numerous organizations throughout the Capital Region. He helped establish the NFL Alumni Association’s Capital District chapter and used his many connections in sports and the community to support causes benefiting children and families.
The memorial tournament at McGregor Links brought friends, family, community members and supporters together to remember Bob while continuing the work he cared so deeply about. Proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army’s Children’s Christmas Gift Program and the Frederick Allen Elks Lodge annual scholarship program.
For Bob, service was never simply something he talked about, it was something he lived. The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club is proud to have called him a fellow Rotarian and to help carry forward his legacy of “Service Above Self.”
Thank you, Bob, for showing us what a life dedicated to others can mean.
